First of all… HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Grampa! H.P. Lovecraft turns 122 today.
I am considering doing a Kickstarter to fund The Lovecraft eZine for the first half of 2013 (then I’d do another one, if successful). There are several reasons for this. First, I’d like to pay my writers more, and, I’d like to start paying my artists and voice readers.
I do feel that Lovecraft eZine has a few advantages for writers that many other magazines do not: (a) The immediacy of the reader feedback for the authors, and (b) the huge amount of traffic this website receives helps writers to sell their other books and stories.
That’s all great, but I’d like to take the eZine to the next level. I’d like to be able to ask more well-known authors to submit stories to me, and they aren’t going to do that unless I pay them what they are accustomed to receiving. (A few do, and I appreciate it!)
And I’m financially hanging on by my fingernails every month.
Remember, unlike most horror magazines, you can read The Lovecraft eZine for free… yet most would agree with me that it is every bit the quality of the print anthologies and zines that you have to pay for.
So here’s a short poll. Please help me out with your feedback.
