You could take advantage of Weird Tale’s downfall and try to coax some of the former submitters to come here, since I think Lezine is closer in spirit to the original WT, than the latest incarnation.

And sure, I’d support Lezine via kickstarter–or if not that, I’d help get the word out.

I think this is an excellent idea. Lovecraft ezine has certainly proven to be (?) an excellent product. I’ll go one step further: Lezine is the first ezine to arrest my attention in the eliterature eworld, it is well crafted and pretty straight forward. I also like the interviews that have been offered up recently (though I only witnessed one). I say, keep up the good work.

Hi Matthew — Thanks for the feedback. Two things: I’d like to think that the ezine has already proven itself, unlike most Kickstarter projects. Second, yes, you’re right about the tangible rewards. I haven’t finalized things by a long shot, but it’s going to be some pretty cool stuff. Thanks!

Here is my perspective, which might be a little different. I regularly support and and all Lovecraftian endeavors on Kickstarter, for two reasons. One is that I want to support creativity in my favorite little niche, realizing full well that regardless of how we congratulate each other, most mythos stories and comics aren’t particularly good. The thing is you never know when someone is going to knock one out of the park. The other reason is selfish. I want the swag. I want the bling. I expect a tangible reward. Another electronic issue of the e-zine won’t tempt me; I have a very hard time enjoying reading things online. When I supported the comic version of Dagon I got a gorgeous hardcover book in return. When I supported Mile Dubisch’s project, I got a wonderful copy of his Dreamquest book. If you offer something like that, not just a bookmark, I’m all in. Give us a greatest hits book, with the top 30 stories from the first 15 issues, and I’m there. Otherwise I will just continue my support at its current level. Just being honest.
