Authors, Editors, Publishers: Tell us about your Lovecraftian and Weird Fiction Books!

As editor of The Lovecraft eZine, I consider it my job to let my readers know about great Lovecraftian and Weird Fiction books.  And I try — I have a list of my favorites on this page.

But of course, it’s hard to keep up with everything.  So authors, publishers, and editors, the floor is yours!  Comment below and tell us about your Lovecraftian novels, anthologies, and collections.

Please post:

  • Your name
  • Book title
  • A short plot synopsis
  • Where we can purchase the book (publisher direct link, Amazon, other)
  • Print?  Kindle?  Nook?  Audio?

Readers, this is your chance to discover some books that you may not have known about!

Thank you!  I look forward to reading the comments.

EDIT: An author emailed me and asked if this is for new books only.  No, it’s not.  If you have a book or books to share, feel free.

(And readers: if you want to buy one of these books, please use the Lovecraft eZine Amazon Portal.  It won’t cost you anything extra, but it will support the magazine.  Thanks!)

  1. Thanks, Mike, for letting me tell you about my first e-novel, DEMON RIDGE.

Centuries ago, a vengeful wizard unleashed a horror from another plane to wreak terror on the town that comdemned him. Today, that horror still lives, in the dark hollow places beneath Dunbar’s Ridge in a quiet Massachusetts town. The town is home to a timid pre-teen and a pot-smoking delinquent, both of whom are linked to the ancient evil that lives underground and preys upon their town. When they reach adulthood, events culminate in a final confrontation which is both inevitable and violent.

DEMON RIDGE is available as an ebook at:

    Book title: THE CREEPING KELP

    It’s kelp. It creeps. 🙂

It’s a cautionary tale of what man is doing to the environment. A WW2 experiment resurfaces; a Shoggoth fragment meets some bits of jellyfish and some seaweed and together they decide they like plastic. They like it so much that they start to seek it out, and grow, and spread… and build.

  5. Hi, I’m Michael Kelly. Thanks very much for this opportunity.
‘The Eldritch Isle’ is a collection of 10 short stories of a Lovecraftian / Machen style set upon the Isle of Man, a small rural island in the dead centre of the British Isles. “Ten terrifying tales of horror and all things weird, all set among the apparently peaceful, green surroundings of the Isle of Man. The discovery of Viking gold unlocks a terrible curse; weird creatures haunt a remote lighthouse; the kitchen of a successful restaurant conceals a vile secret; the vengeance of an ancient witch; cruel accidents befall those who criticise a pompous writer’s works; a TT racer’s encounter with the uncanny; obsession and depravity in the service of a demonic machine; the Black Goat of the Woods; an ancient evil that inhabits the marshes; the horror that lies buried beneath the surface of this beautiful Island. A decalog of dread.” It can be purchased from Amazon in both print and Kindle versions:

  7. Thanks for the great opportunity to share our stuff.

As the reply heading says, my name is Bryan Whitehead. I’m the author of “Grandma Gilman,” a novella based on “The Shadow Over Innsmouth.” I love Lovecraft’s story except for the “hooray, I’m a fish!” ending. So my follow-up explores what it might actually be like to discover your Deep One heritage. Sarah Upton, a nine-year-old girl from Galveston, gets stuck accompanying her family to Innsmouth for a funeral. While she’s there, she learns more than she wanted to know about her mom’s side of the family.

  9. SHADOWS OVER MAIN STREET
    (Various)
    Hazardous Press

What happens when idyllic small-towns, and the simple folk who inhabit them, collide with inexplicable evil borne of a vast and uncaring cosmos? Imagine a series of stories set in a golden era of American life, where worldly troubles are regarded from a distance, if at all.

Hear the buzz of playing cards clipped in children’s spokes echo down quiet lanes. Smell the faint aroma of rich tobacco smoke from an old man’s pipe on a shady boulevard. Listen to the gossip of small towns where everyone knows everyone’s business.

    Or do they?

Sometimes, deadly secrets lurk out in the barn. Sometimes, unimaginable evil awaits us in the root cellar. Sometimes, we fall under the sway of the Shadows Over Main Street.

Come inside and sit for a spell…

Expected to be released in late 2014, and with an introduction by Ramsey Campbell, this anthology includes stories from Gary Braunbeck, Rena Mason, Nick Mamatas, Kevin Lucia, Chesya Burke, Brian Hodge, Mary SanGiovanni and many, many more! Keep up to date at http://www.mainstreetshadows.com!

“The Altar in the Hills and Other Weird Tales”, published by Raven Warren Publishing.

The Altar in the Hills (and Other Weird Tales) is a collection of seven weird tales in the Lovecraftian tradition! These tales blend horror, science-fiction and fantasy to weave stories of darkness and terror that will alternately leave you checking dark spaces for hidden horrors and wondering at the nature of reality itself. From the horror/mystery of The Altar in the Hills to the private confessions and revelations of one of mankind’s most brilliant minds in Through the Ether, these seven stories bring with them Old Gods, strange twists and interesting characters that will both surprise and delight fans of horror fiction.

Horror legend Steve Bissette (SWAMP THING, TYRANT) said of it, “Brandon Barrows is walking in mighty tall footsteps. Like Ramsey Campbell and others before him, he’s mining depths first excavated by H.P. Lovecraft. Yes, there is much of Lovecraft and the Lovecraftian, with purpose, here–along with Nikola Tesla, sewer workers, child therapists, dreamers, schemers, wanderers, and those going where angels not only fear to tread, but where angels go to die. Like most of Barrows’s protagonists, you must ‘see it for yourself’–take the plunge!”

Available on Kindle and in print, 4.5 star-rated on Amazon!

    INSPIRED BY REAL EVENTS

IN FEBRUARY 1959, A GROUP OF FRIENDS WENT ON A SKI-HIKING TRIP TO A REMOTE MOUNTAIN IN THE NORTHERN URALS.

    SOMETHING KILLED THEM…

When a rescue expedition eventually found their camp, they discovered that for some unknown reason, the nine friends had cut their way out of their tent (instead of simply opening the flaps) and fled down the mountain, half undressed and without their shoes. Some had died of hypothermia, while others had strange injuries which one medical examiner stated were consistent with a high-speed car crash. One of them had apparently had her tongue removed.

Alarmed and mystified, the Soviet government classified the case as top secret, and closed off the region to all civilians for the next three years.

Fifty years later, a man is discovered wandering in the wilderness, exhausted and terrified…

Available on Amazon.com on Kindle or POD book.
