Most details about this upcoming film are under wraps (including where they’ll be filming — suffice to say I’M happy about it), but here’s what filmmaker Bryan Moore told me:
It will be a faithful adaptation of Lovecraft’s story in the period that it was written. A minor character that is mentioned briefly in the story will now have a much bigger presence in the film. The goal is to make this THE definitive faithful Lovecraft adaptation by including HPL’s emphasis on atmosphere. Fans of the story will not be disappointed as this film will deliver the goods that fans have been waiting for.
Stay tuned! And while you’re waiting, check out these two “behind the scenes” photos, and the poster for The Shadow Over Innsmouth:
It’s a year later. Any updates?

Maybe he could do a Dunwhich Horror adaptation after this. I love it already.

Seminal HPL tale. Must be done right lest the Deep Ones be offended….

They know how to make potential viewers interested. Now I’m thinking who can this minor character be. Protagonist’s cousin from the asylum? His grandmother or other Deep One relative?

It must be old Zadok Allen, the town drunk who tells the protagonist of the strange happenings in the town.
This movie should be awesome!

I can’t wait. I am surprised that Hollywood hasn’t done more Lovecraft seeing how they don’t have anything good coming out lately. If they would throw the budget behind some indie directors we could end up with a Lovecraft library of movies to be proud of. This one looks like it is going to set the tone.
