Interviews: Richard Chizmar, Ellen Datlow, Victor LaValle

Image by Richard Chizmar. This is the legendary Boogeyman… we think.

For the past month or so, my life has been very hectic, with some heavy things to deal with. I won’t bore you with that, but please take it from me that it’s a reason, not an excuse. One of the things I’ve not been able to do is to upload the audio editions of the show podcast to Spotify, iTunes, Amazon Music, and more. I will correct that this week.

In the meantime, here are the video editions of recent podcasts. Very interesting interviews with Richard Chizmar (Chasing the Boogeyman), Ellen Datlow (When Things Get Dark: Stories Inspired by Shirley Jackson), and Victor Lavalle (The Changeling, The Ballad of Black Tom).

Enjoy!

Interview with Richard Chizmar (watch here). 📚 Chasing the Boogeyman is “a meticulously remembered, beautifully crafted hometown nightmare that reminds readers that nostalgia cuts both ways; sure, it can keep our past alive, but it can also be the shadow man standing at the foot of your bed….For true crime and horror fans, this one’s essential.” — Library Journal (starred review)

Interview with Ellen Datlow (watch here). (A few glitches with this video, but I’ll smooth that out with the audio.) 📚 “A chilling anthology in tribute to the genius of Shirley Jackson, collecting today’s best horror writers. Featuring Joyce Carol Oates, Josh Malerman, Paul Tremblay, Richard Kadrey, Stephen Graham Jones, Elizabeth Hand and more.”

Interview with Victor LaValle (watch here). 📚 “Victor LaValle is the author of the short story collection Slapboxing with Jesus, four novels, The Ecstatic, Big Machine, The Devil in Silver, and The Changeling and two novellas, Lucretia and the Kroons and The Ballad of Black Tom. He is also the creator and writer of two comic books Victor LaValle’s DESTROYER and EVE. He has been the recipient of numerous awards including the World Fantasy Award, British Fantasy Award, Bram Stoker Award, Whiting Writers’ Award, a Guggenheim Fellowship, Shirley Jackson Award, American Book Award, and the key to Southeast Queens.” (from the Victor LaValle website)

Enjoy, and look for the audio editions on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon Music, and more, this week! 🙂

Thanks for your patience, everyone.
