Brown Jenkin sculpture winner, and next contest

BELOW: Brown Jenkin contest winner, and information on the next contest (hint: you’ll love it, there will be more than one winner)!

Lovecraft eZine reader Suzanne has been selected randomly to receive the Brown Jenkin sculpture!  Congratulations, Suzanne!  Suzanne says:

Wow thank you! My postal address is [removed], I am so extremely excited as I am a huge fan!!!! Thank you in multitudes!

Big thanks to Joe for allowing me to give away one of his sculptures.

If you’re disappointed that you didn’t win (and who wouldn’t be?) I’d like to point out that you can commission artist Joe Broers for your very own Brown Jenkin, Cthulhu, resident of Innsmouth, and more (view his gallery here).  Email Joe for pricing and more information at zombiequadrille@hotmail.com .  Brown Jenkin normally sells for $65.  Ask Joe about pricing on his other sculptures!

Joe says, “While my main goal is sharing Lovecraftian creations (I’d give sculpts away all the time if I could afford it), it is nice to make some sales and make my hobby more self supporting.  Brown Jenkin was of course inspired by Lovecraft’s Dreams in the Witch House.  Lovecraft wrote that after Jenkin’s demise the house was torn down revealing that ‘it had a ghastly layer of older materials which paralyzed the wreckers with horror. In brief, the floor was a veritable ossuary of the bones of small children’ . Thus my Brown Jenkin sits atop an infants skull. I’m not sure what inspired the twisted human faces on the base; perhaps tortured souls residing in the ‘spaces beyond’.  My original figure was created with super sculpey. I made a mold and cast copies in resin and paint them The figure is a little over seven inches tall.  I’m an avid fan of H.P. Lovecraft, the Lovecraft Circle, and new stories about the Lovecraft/Cthulhu Mythos. I enjoy creating things relating to the ‘Mythos’ and enough interest was shown by others that I decided to make and sell copies of my figures.”

I especially love “Resident of Innsmouth”:

SO… what’s the next drawing going to be for, you ask?  Well, more details tomorrow, but we will have more than one winner this time!  Here’s what’s up for grabs; click each picture for more information:

Iron Age Cthulhu Idol (the picture below is sold already, but a brand new one is being sculpted just for this contest):

Chocolate Cthulhu Idol:

Gummy Cthulhu:

Loathsome Lovecraftian Lollipops:

Jason McKittrick is our sculptor this time, as well as the owner of Cryptocurium: Custom Chocolates & Candies: www.cryptocurium.com — they are the makers of the chocolate Cthulhu Idol and a bunch of other Lovecraftian treats.

I’ll post contest details tomorrow.  Stay tuned!

  1. Thanks for the nice promotion, Mike, and thanks to all for the comments about Brown Jenkin. I sculpt, but also collect Lovecraftian ‘artifacts’ and am looking forward to seeing Jason McKittrick’s new work. Hurray for the Lovecraft Ezine!

  2. Congrats to the winner. But at the same time I’m not unhappy, since I’ve won the figure in a parallel universe.

And WOW, the figures are eerily amazing.
