Free to watch: “The Haunter of the Dark”

Happy Birthday, Logan!

Hey ezine readers!  If you’ve noticed I’ve been quiet so far this week both here and on the ezine Facebook page, you’re right.  Today is my son’s 10th birthday, and my wife and I did a “Birthday Weekend” with him starting last Friday.  And now, we’re heading out to see The Amazing Spider-Man.  (I’ll catch up on emails, etc., tomorrow — thanks for being patient.)

Anyway, here’s something cool in the meantime: a free-to-watch movie, The Haunter of the Dark, based of course on the Lovecraft story of the same name.  The film creator (Youtube user “Biggstrek”) emailed me about this, and I have to say, it’s very well done.  He writes:

I’m a hobbyist film maker only. I originally made a version of ‘The Terrible Old Man’ for the HPL Film Festival. I was later encouraged to make another Lovecraft film by Ricky Grove when I entered ‘Old Man into the Machinima Expo. He offered to help with the project and so I took him up on it. Ricky (from Army Of Darkness) helped with the script, voiced Robert Blake, the main character, and did the sound design.

2 years of animating later (in Reallusion’s software, iClone), the film was finished. It was premiered at the 2011 MachinExpo where it picked up the Grand Jury prize (and crowd favorite).

Watch The Haunter of the Dark below.  Also, you can view his other films on his Youtube page.
