Tuesday Lovecraftian Links

The H.P. Lovecraft Festival: March 17 through April 3 in New York City.  This looks fun.

5 Cthulhu Cakes: Nothing says insanity like being one year older… unless it’s Cthulhu.

David J. West‘s 5-year-old son drew a picture of Cthulhu… check it out.

H.P. Lovecraft: Flight From Madness: An essay on HPL by Donald Tyson which focuses on HPL’s fear of going insane.  Also check out his book: The Dream World of H. P. Lovecraft: His Life, His Demons, His Universe.  From the Amazon.com description: Occult scholar Donald Tyson plumbs the depths of H. P. Lovecraft’s cosmic visions and horrific dream world to examine the strange life of the man who created the Necronomicon and the Cthulhu mythos.  Lovecraft expressed disdain for magic and religion, and most of his biographers have dismissed the mystical side of his nature. This book redresses this imbalance.

NPR: Arkham House: Home to Horror, Sci-Fi Writers: A National Public Radio episode of Weekend Edition from 2004 that I stumbled across (click the LISTEN button when you get there).  Ray Bradbury, August Derleth’s daughter, and others are interviewed.

Last, has anyone seen Altitude?  The trailer looks Lovecraftian (below) but I’ve seen mostly bad reviews.

    • That is sad news. In the NPR story, she talks about Arkham House not making her rich but that she was proud to carry on the legacy. We owe her and her father a lot. Thank you, Dennis, for letting us know.
