The Thing: A Lovecraftian Audio Drama

(View and download my entire list of Lovecraft audios here!)

Well, I believe this is the first audio I’ve posted here that is not an actual Lovecraft story.  However, most HPL fans are familiar with the movie The Thing, a movie with definite Lovecraftian themes: A group of researchers in Antarctica discover an alien, hundreds of thousands of years old, buried in the ice.  What you may not know is that it is based on a short story by John Campbell, titled Who Goes There?.

And Who Goes There? is the audio drama I bring you today.  (Remember, an audio drama is different from an audio book — an audio drama has different actors, it has sound effects, etc.)  Who Goes There? is a great little audio.  Enjoy, and let me know what you think!

  1. This was nice, though the ending was adapted to fit the movie. No spoilers here: read the the story. John W Campbell, Jr. wrote it under the pen name of Don A Stuart. The 1950’s movie took the bare bones due to SPFX limitations. Carpenter’s followed the novella almost exactly until the end.
