Lovecraftian Links: Intros, Artwork and Props, Props, Props!

First: a bit of business.  I am not Mike.  Whoa now!  Calm down.  As many of you have read, Mike has asked for a bit of assistance with his excellent ezine; myself and others have volunteered to help with some of the work.  I’m thrilled to be able to contribute to Lovecraft eZine.  Oh and my name is James L. Carey.

Without further ado…

Want some great Lovecraft art?  Of course you do!  This wonderful piece comes from the Author & Creation series by Abigail Larson, talented illustrator and purveyor of all manners of macabre visual delights.   P.S. her portrait of Poe is one of my most favorite things in the world.

Propnomicon:  Curious devices, forbidden artifacts, mysterious creatures, and intriguing documents.  A site that boasts daily postings of props, assemblage art and other Lovecraft-themed merchandise.  Want to print your own Miskatonic University bookplates?  They’ve got that.  Start your own Antarctic Expedition collection?  Look no further.  The blog also catalogs the most impressive collection of Cthulhu idols I’ve ever come across.  It never fails to make me look remorsefully at bare shelves that need nothing quite as badly as this.

Unspeakable Vault (of Doom):  In tough times, even us dwellers in darkness could use a good chuckle.  Luckily, Francois Launet has provided us with a comic that would make even Cthulhu crack a smile.  Well, maybe.

The Specimens of Alex CF:  A “curator and custodian of the Merrylin Cryptid collection”, Alex creates one of kind works of art that look real enough to be displayed in the cryptid wing of your local natural history museum (wish they had those) or in the urban monster hunter’s closet of goodies.  Alex has also created an incredibly in-depth mythology around his creations that is half the fun.  Occasionally he sells his pieces (not cheaply), but you can still enjoy them for the cost of a click.  You’ll get lost in his Specimens section but some of my favorites are: Adult Male Lycanthrope, The R’lyeh Expedition Case and the Mountains of Madness Expedition Case.

If you’re enjoying the original fiction, consider donating to help keep Lovecraft eZine alive.  Any amount is greatly appreciated and you can also subscribe to Kindle/Nook editions by clicking the link.
