I spoke with W.H. Pugmire by phone…

…and he seemed more optimistic today.  He also said his regular doctor would be back at the hospital tomorrow, so he will know more then.  He said they gave him oxygen today… I’m not sure why, but I didn’t want to keep him on the phone too long, so I didn’t pepper him with questions.  Several friends of Wilum’s have emailed me wanting me to ask him if he needs anything, and I’ll return those emails today… but when I asked him that question, he said all he really needs is a lot of rest.

I asked him if he had enough books — someone must have brought him some, because he says he now has a lot there in the room.  He seemed to really appreciate knowing that all of you were commenting here with messages for him, but he also was a little out of it.  As he said, he needs rest and quiet right now.

Anyway, tomorrow morning I will print out all of your messages to Wilum at this post, and will send them via overnight mail.  Stay tuned.

  1. It is truly sad to hear about such a thing happening to such a fine indiviual. As Will noted, he is the foremost Lovecraftian author and has kep the quality literary torch blazing.

Sadly, we all must come to an end, but I am truly impressed and admire Pugmire for getting ready to do it with style, having Lovecraft literature in his hands at the moment.

Just goes to show the great depth of character as well as talent this fantastic gentleman has…my prayers go out for him.
