Giant Chocolate Cthulhu Idol contest!

First of all, Rick Ramsey won last week’s contest (the Dead But Dreaming 2 anthology).

So… new contest!  No purchase or donation necessary to enter.  Jason with Cryptocurium emailed me and told me that he’s willing to give away TWO Giant Chocolate Cthulhu Idols to a couple of lucky Lovecraft eZine readers!  Here’s a picture:

This 7 ½ inch tall idol of “The Great Old One” is larger, more detailed and weighs in at a sanity shattering two pounds of solid chocolate!

As usual, this will be a random drawing, using a random number generator.  To enter the random drawing, simply do the following:

  • Become an email subscriber of Lovecraft eZine (top right corner of this webpage, it’s free). If you’re already a subscriber, you don’t need to do anything.
  • Comment below (say hello, comment on the ezine… whatever!)
  • LIKE Lovecraft eZine on Facebook (click here, OR, click the LIKE button on the top right side of this page).  If you are one of the five people on the planet not on Facebook, then don’t worry about it, just fulfill the other two requirements.

That’s it! Pretty easy. On Friday, March 16, 2012, I will randomly pick TWO winners from the comments below. Good luck!

  1. How in the hell did I not know about this page?! LOVE my Lovecraft & Poe. Was just watching the 1986 film FROM BEYOND and thinking “This needs a remake using a steampunk style to give it a more Lovecraftian/Victorian feel.” Now that I’m here, I’m looking forward to the long ride ahead!……..And maybe some chocolate to eat along the way! 😉

  2. The secret to ultimate enjoyment of the Cthulhu idol is to hollow it out slowly, eating the inside away while leaving the outer shell. You know, much as Cthulhu and his lot enjoy our minds. 😉

  3. It would cost way too much to ship to the UK & I can’t eat it, ‘cos of the diabetes, but damn it…. I WANT one!

  4. There may be some eldritch connection between the theobromine found in chocolate, and the sinister machinations of the Cthulhu Mythos deities as embodied in the form of dread Cthulhu. After all, “theobromine” translates to “food of the Gods!”

  5. Although I am a huge fan of the zone I must admit that chocolate might be even more desirable, specially in the form of the Great Old One. 😉

  6. Probably best if I don’t win–I couldn’t NOT eat it, but how can one destroy such a work of art?

Am reading through the run of the ezine’s fiction. Halfway to go!

  7. Thank you for the opportunity to win the chocolate calamari! Are you guys planning anything special for Wilbur Whateley’s 100th birthday next year (Feb. 2, 2013)? I hope it is not a commemorative dog show! 😉

  8. Remember this is an idol. If you eat it Cthulhu will eat your soul. Well, since he’s gonna’ do that anyhow…

  9. This is absolutely brilliant- I really love this version of the idol. He should really make them in other, less edible mediums as well- I know that I would be interested in purchasing one.

  10. I figure the Easter Bunny has to be an avatar of Yog-Sothoth, or at least a Mi-Go with a sick sense of humor. I’m sure either would appreicate the C’thocolate figure, but not as much as I would!

  11. Giant! Chocolate! Cuthulu! What’s not to love, covet, and desire? If I don’t win, tell me where I can buy them. I have so many Cuthulu worshipers on my Cuthulu-mas list.

  12. Ooer, I’d love to get this, then I can eat the smaller one I won last year … 🙂 The Cthulu candies this guy makes are awesome, although I don’t want to eat them because they are so awesome – folks, even if you don’t win, go check it out and buy yourself some!!
