The H.P. Lovecraft Literary Podcast discusses “The Night Ocean”, my favorite HPL story!

I’ve mentioned before on this website that The Night Ocean is my favorite story by Lovecraft (he co-wrote it with R.H. Barlow).  I’m happy to report that HPPodcraft.com (those cool guys who discuss Lovecraft stories) just recorded a podcast discussing this story.

You can listen to their podcast here.

Read The Night Ocean here.

Earlier this year, I asked Justin Zimmer to record The Night Ocean for me.  He kindly did so; listen to the entire story here.

Enjoy.  What do you all think of this story?  Comment below.  Did I mention it’s my favorite story?  😉

  1. I have to say I wasn’t fond of the story but the gang at the HPLLP made me re-examine it. I think it is a pretty good story.

Of course when I tell folks my favorite Lovecraft story is POLARIS I get some funny looks…

  2. It’s a classic all right, but I tend to agree with most HPL experts that the story is mostly RHB’s. Nonetheless, whatever involvement HPL had in this story could only have improved it. The atmosphere that this story conjures up is one that all modern writers of “weird” or “literary” horror should strive to emulate.
