Yesterday I posted about The Secret World MMORG because there was a photo of what looks like Cthulhu. Well, I just stumbled across a video of someone playing the game, fighting what (again) looks to be Cthulhu. I haven’t played The Secret World (yet), but I’m sure it’s not a Lovecraftian game per se — rather, it appears to be a game that has some Lovecraftian elements.
Maybe. Or maybe it just name-drops with Lovecraftian street names and video of “Cthulhu”.
Whatever the truth really is, the video is really cool. Watch the player fight “Cthulhu”, below.
Early access to The Secret World begins tomorrow.

This is NOT Cthulhu. Its name is Ur-Draug. It is more akin to a spawn of Cthulhu within the game.

Just started playing it last night. One of the main areas is a New England town called Kingsmouth. THE SECRET WORLD may not be THE Cthulhu Mythos MMO everyone is waiting for, but it does offer plenty of Cthulhu Mythos fun while we’re waiting.

That is a cool video. Wish I had recorded my fights–but, many if them were fails, haha. It’s not a Lovecraftian game, but does draw influence from Lovecraftian mythos as well as other myths and folklore. The main storyline for Solomon Island is that a mysterious fog rolls in, bringing with it creatures and turning the townsfolk into the living dead.

If that’s not Cthulhu then I’m the son of a Shoggoth. I’ve been lusting after The Secret World for ages, this clinches it for me.
