Joe Pulver, editor of the upcoming anthology The Grimscribe’s Puppets, wants Lovecraft eZine to be the official site for information on this book.

I’m happy to oblige!  I really can’t wait to read it, because The Grimscribe’s Puppets is a tribute to Thomas Ligotti and his work.  And if you haven’t read Thomas Ligotti, you are really missing out.  (Browse his books at this link.)

Here’s a short email interview I did with editor Joe Pulver:

Mike: What’s the genesis of this book?

Joe:  As I was thinking of doing the Robert W. Chambers tribute anthology, A Season in Carcosa, I noticed tributes to Lumley and Campbell on my shelf, and thought it’s high time there was one to Tom and his work. So along w/ the pitch for ASiC, I pitched The Grimscibe’s Puppets (w/ Tom’s kind permission, of course). The folks at MRP bit, so I looked at my wish list of writers and began…

Mike: When will it be available?

Joe: TGP should hit the streets in approximately 8 weeks. We’re formatting and proofing now.

Mike: What do you want to say about Thomas Ligotti?

Joe: Someone asked me, why this book? Simple, from the 1st tale of Tom’s, “The Frolic” (in Songs of a Dead Dreamer), I read (back in the 80’s), then instantly reread, I was hooked. So in my own small way, this books is my thanks (one of them, the first was a tribute tale I penned, “and this is where I go down in darkness” in Portraits of Ruin Hippocampus Press 2012) for the many gifts from his pen.  I’m not sure his influence shows in my work, in the manner, Chambers or Bloch does, but it’s in there. So I guess, I had to do this, as I had to w/ the Chambers tribute.
