Free-to-watch: “The Resurrected” (adaptation of “The Case of Charles Dexter Ward”)

Last week, I posted about some free-to-watch Lovecraftian movies.  Here’s another one: The Resurrected, based on The Case of Charles Dexter Ward by H.P. Lovecraft.  It’s one of the better Lovecraftian adaptations, in my opinion.

Watch it below!

  1. Just watched…a truly LoveCraftian experience.I thought a lot of the other movies you recommended were great,as well as fan favorites like “From Beyond” The UnNamable”,etc.but this one has that “Nameless Horror” feel that you really want from a true LoveCraft story.

  2. Thanks for pointing this one out Mike! I love this movie, even if parts of Providence look a little like downtown L.A. 🙂 Gangbuster performance from Chris Sarandon as Charles/Joseph, and Dan O’Bannon handles the direction very well. Good Charles Band score too. It’s definitely one of the most faithful adaptations of Lovecraft’s work that was filmed in the ’90s. Certainly an entertaining film.
My old pan & scan VHS copy has about outlived its life expectancy. This was providential (pardon the pun)

  3. The coming H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival in L.A. (San Pedro) will have a one-time-only showing of the late Dan O’Bannon’s personal director’s cut of this movie, which was re-edited by the studio and isn’t available anywhere else.
