If you’re like me, The Thing is on your list of favorite Lovecraftian-themed movies. If so, you’ll be happy to know that I just discovered a documentary about the movie: The Making Of The Thing. Watch it below, free.
In the winter of 1982, a twelve-man research team at a remote Antarctic research station discovers an alien buried in the snow for over 100,000 years. Soon unfrozen, the form-changing alien wreaks havoc, creates terror and begins killing the researchers one by one.
I just re-watched the Thing a couple of weeks ago so the scenes based on those storyboard sequences are still fresh in my mind. Also, it’s interesting to learn that Mike Ploog was involved in the development of the movie. Thanks for sharing this.

This is a great find. 🙂 Thanks for sharing it! Added to my ever-growing queue of “to-watch” but I think it might just shoot to the top of the list. I’m often conflicted because I think it’s great that “The Thing” still holds up after all of these years, but on the other hand lament that so few films especially since 2000 have been able to capture anything close to the isolated cosmic horror Carpenter presented 33 years ago.
