Do not think from my slavery to morphine that I am a weakling or a degenerate. When you have read these hastily scrawled pages you may guess, though never fully realise, why it is that I must have forgetfulness or death…

I have become extremely fond of audio Lovecraft. Because of my work as a Lovecraftian author, I am always returning to Grandpa’s fiction to see what I can glean from it. For this reason I buy most of the new editions of Lovecraft’s tales, so that I have different books to pick up and dip into. Repeatedly, repeatedly, I return to devour Lovecraft’s prose. Yet — there is a certain charm to being able to listen to the tales — it gives one’s brain a new way to appreciate the fiction. I hear things from an audio reading that evades me on my numerous personal readings. I can hear the cadence of Lovecraft’s prose, which heightens my appreciate for Lovecraft’s language, his gifts as a writer.
