Update On Lovecraft eZine

So here is what I’m thinking; please feel free to comment below.  This ezine is just too successful to not continue; however, equally, I cannot do this on my own.  I cannot incur the expenses and also do all of the work — I’m just too sick for that.  I do have two very talented people who want to help; however, one of them works 70 hour weeks right now.

So I’m thinking that the “many hands make light work” theory is the way to go here.  Ideally, if we had 5 people helping with the ezine, we could still publish monthly.  If we had someone willing to help with expenses, we could still publish monthly (for example, if people were contributing even $100 a month, total, that would help me).

So what happens next is up to  you.  If you want to help with expenses, you will be considered as “buying into” the magazine, and will reap potential profits down the road.  You will also be credited as such, with links back to your site, etc.

If you have time to spare but not money, you could help me with publishing the ezine: Reading submissions, writing posts with Lovecraftian links, doing publishing work each month to make the magazine look good.  Etc, etc, etc.  You will be credited each month as being part of the ezine and will have links back to your website, if you wish.

So, please let me know.  I don’t want to end this magazine.  But it’s an awful lot of work for one person — especially a sick person.  To sum up, I need:

  • People to help with expenses
  • People to volunteer their time

If anyone is willing to do either, or both, this can keep Lovecraft eZine running, and will be a great opportunity for you as well.

  1. I can help with illustration and some basic image editing if you would like. My preferred medium is pen/ink/pencil but I also enjoy digitally touching stuff up.

I’ve been drawing creepy/fantastic horror stuff since before I ever heard the name Cthulhu. Most of my sketchbooks and finished stuff is inaccessible but I have a few things I could scan and email to you if you wish, and it’s free of charge so it’s extra images you can use however you wish.

  2. You guys are truly amazing. THANK YOU. I’ve also received several emails from people offering to help, both financially and with their time. I’m going to email all of you this evening and work out a plan.

Bottom line: The Lovecraft eZine is back to stay. Details to follow, but issue #6 will be up soon!

  5. I’ve finally got a Kindle now, so I can pay my scraper’s buck for the ebook subscription. As for money, I can highly suggest revelant ads be placed in convenient places they’ll actually be noticed. I’m talking ads for books, films, and the like: material that will actually garner clicks and residuals; through which A LOT of money can be made.

Good to hear it’s still pushing through!

  6. Mike, I shared your EZine link on my facebook page, with a comment that you were looking for some assistance, so I hope that helps. I have a lot of friends who are fellow writers, editors, and publishers so maybe someone will be able to help out. I don’t have the time or money myself, otherwise I would help because I think it is a great EZine. I know you will find someone to help keep it running.
    Yours Sincerely,
    Larry Atchley, Jr.

  7. I am a big fan of the work you guys are doing on the zine and would love to help in whatever way I can to keep it going.

Maybe for the meantime you could add a “Donate” button and we could start a bit of a fundraiser for you. We could start getting the word out. Oh how the people love a worthy cause.

Other than that I’d be happy to write the occasional post of Lovecraftian links and things I’ve stumbled across.

    Cheers,
    James

  8. I’m willing to help. I haven’t actually worked on a magazine or newspaper since high school back in the dark ages, but get in touch with me if you think I could be useful.
Is there a way to buy all the kindle issues at once, or do I need to make separate paypal transactions?
