From the title and the cover, it is easy to assume that Horror For the Holidays, a Lovecraftian short story collection published by Miskatonic River Press, is about Christmas.  Well, there are Christmas tales, true.  But Horror For the Holidays is just that — Lovecraftian horror stories for most of the holidays through-out the year.

Among the holidays celebrated in this collection are Valentine’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, the 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Halloween, and of course, Christmas.

And the contributors?  How about Thomas Ligotti, Ramsey Campbell, Robert M. Price, Joseph S. Pulver Sr., Ann K. Schwader, W.H. Pugmire, and many others — does that whet your appetite?

Miskatonic River Press is one of the finest — if not the finest — Lovecraftian publishers out there, and they deserve our support.  If we buy their books, they’ll be able to keep publishing books — it’s that simple.  And I could be wrong, but I feel that a lot of people think that Horror For the Holidays is all about Christmas, and of course when it’s not December, most of us aren’t in the mood to read Christmas stories — even horror and Lovecraftian ones.

But Horror For the Holidays is a collection you can read year-round; in fact, as varying holidays in the year approach, I’ve been reading stories from the book matching the appropriate holiday.  Lots of fun.
