I’m putting together a list of the top 25 Lovecraftian short stories, and I’d like your input!

Ask yourself these questions: What’s the best written Lovecraftian short story?  Which story best embodies Lovecraftian themes?  What Lovecraftian story do you consider to be essential?

Please bear in mind that I’m looking for short stories, not novels.  And, of course, I want Lovecraftian tales not written by HPL himself.

If you can, give me two short stories: An older one, perhaps from the 1980s and earlier, and a newer one, from the 1990s and later.
