Mike Davis here. Recently, I asked Lovecraftian authors, editors, and reviewers to send me a list of five of their favorite Lovecraftian short stories (that are not written by HPL himself).
It’s important to note that these lists are not our “top five” Lovecraftian short stories — for most of us, that would be next to impossible to determine. It’s simply a list of five stories that we love, and that we feel are important to Lovecraftian fiction.
This is a great way to discover some Lovecraftian tales you might not have known about. So, without further ado, here is a list of five Lovecraftian short stories recommended by author Cody Goodfellow:

It’s hard to argue with any of these entries; all are brilliant. One thing I really like about Cold Print is the way the author only gradually lets us inside the head of the protagonist so you know exactly what sort of person he is, sort of taking advantage of the natural tendency to be sympathetic and turning it on its head (one of the reasons I like McNaughton’s The Doom That Came to Innsmouth so much).
