Transcendent, an upcoming Lovecraftian movie

Here’s a Lovecraft eZine exclusive!  Mars Homeworld contacted me about a new film project he’s working on.  His email follows:

It’s a short film that (as cliché as it sounds) I dreamt about a year ago. Pretty much start to finish; about a woman working a 9 to 5 job, who suddenly gets “The Call” of the sea.  Drops everything, every aspect of her modern life and starts walking.  The film follows her travel from city to an Innsmouth-like coastal village where Mother Hydra and her followers embrace her as part of the extended family, so to speak.

It’s called TRANSCENDENT.

I’ve managed to convince some very talented friends to help me try to capture those images on a REALLY slim budget, just using art-over-money techniques, and so far we’re getting there in a manner I’m very happy with. What I’m trying to do is almost an homage to older cinema styles, so this is not a quick cut/flashy camera moves for their own sake kind of film…but rather a silent film where everything happens inside the frame almost as a portrait image. (Think “Nosferatu” as a stylistic reference.

We’re going to need to raise another $1,000.00-2,000.00 dollars to finish/promote to film festivals etc,so, any press we can get would be wonderful.

MARS

When I asked Mars where people can go to donate and/or get more information, he replied:

Hey man, thanks for asking. I haven’t set up a fundraising site yet, I hesitate to be another film looking for crowdfunding; I was thinking of going directly to the HPL community to ask for donations; haven’t been able to decide yet.  So busy actually making the thing that I don’t have a lot of time to figure out how to fund it…that’s pretty backwards I know, heehee.

Mars Homeworld composed the music for Lovecraft: Fear of the Unknown, and he’s a very talented guy.  I have no doubt that this film will be something special.
